WHITESBORO, TX (12/21/2016) — An accident between two semi-trucks early Wednesday morning killed one driver and left two others injured.
According to authorities, one person died and two others suffered injuries following a collision between two 18-wheelers on Highway 82 (near mile marker 623) in Whitesboro, Texas.
Police reported that at around 1:00 a.m., a westbound 18-wheeler was attempting to turn across the eastbound lanes of traffic and into the Lucky Truck Stop when it was struck by an eastbound Performance Food Group semi-trailer.
The driver of the Performance Food Group truck died at the scene. A passenger in that semi-trailer—who was in the sleeper compartment at the time of the crash—was transported to a Dallas-area hospital for treatment.
The driver of the other 18-wheeler was treated and released at the scene.
“There are a lot of factors in an accident you have to look at, so that’s where we are now,” said Whitesboro Police Chief Scott Taylor. “We’ve been out there and worked all the evidence. Now we’re just going to look at it and see where it takes us.”
