18-Wheeler Crash Kills Andrew Yau, 1 Hospitalized in Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, TX (07/27/2015) — An 18-wheeler wreck killed 49-year-old Andrew Yau, and sent one other person to the hospital on Monday afternoon.

According to police, 49-year-old Andrew Yau, of Frisco, has died following a crash with an 18-wheeler at the intersection of Old Denton Road and Alliance Gateway Freeway in Fort Worth, Texas.

Authorities state that at around 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon, Yau may have driven through a stop sign before he was broadsided by an 18-wheeler. It’s important to note, though, that this is only speculation as police continue to investigate this fatal accident.

Andrew Yau was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. According to MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky, a second victim was transported to a nearby area hospital for treatment.

It saddened me to hear about Andrew's passing. He was my childhood friend from Evanston. I'm sure his family miss him terribly. As busy and as distant as families can be, its unfortunate that a tragedy makes us realize how much we care about each other and serves as a reminder that we cant become too out of touch from each other. I'm so sorry to hear about Andrew's passing. From whatever i read here about him, it seems like he's just like he was as a kid. upbeat, positive, trying to look at the good things in everything. God rest your soul Andrew. Andew's mother's name is Victoria Yau, father Stephen, and brother Phillip.

Andrew was renting a room in my home...he had only been here one month so I didn't know him very well. I want his family to have his personal belongings but don't know how to reach anyone. Does anyone have any information on who I could contact? I called his employer but they haven't been much help. Prayers for Andrew's family and his precious daughter.

I worked as Andrew's merchandiser years ago in CA. He always impressed me with his cheerfulness. No matter what was going on, Andrew was always upbeat. God bless our dear boy. He is missed.
