SAN ANTONIO, TX (07/16/2015) — A fatal 18-wheeler crash claimed the life of 61-year-old Michael Hill on Thursday morning.
According to San Antonio police, 61-year-old Michael Hill died Thursday morning after an 18-wheeler collided with his vehicle on Interstate 35 between Rittiman Road and Loop 410 in San Antonio, Texas.
According to reports, at around 9:30 a.m. the driver of an 18-wheeler was traveling southbound on I-35 in the center lane. San Antonio Police Department Sgt. Fidel Acosta stated that the driver of the 18-wheeler felt an impact on his trailer and hit the brakes, which caused the big rig to jackknife across three highway lanes.
When the trucker came to a stop, he saw Hill’s Chevy Cobalt wedged underneath the 18-wheeler. The car had been dragged for about 200 yards before the big rig came to a stop.
Police say the truck driver noticed a Chevrolet Cobalt to his right shortly before the crash, and some reports state that the 18-wheeler was attempting to change lanes at the time of the incident.
The lone occupant of the Cobalt, 61-year-old Michael Hill, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
