Two people died this morning after their car rear ended an 18 wheeler on westbound I-30 in Fort Worth.
Investigators haven’t released too many details about this morning’s fatal car wreck, but according to MyFoxDFW the vehicles were traveling westbound on I-30 near Las Vegas Trail when the accident occurred. The semi-truck was moving slowly in the right lane. Just after 2 a.m. a man and a woman in a car rear ended the truck at high speed. The impact was so hard it forced the car up under the 18 wheeler’s trailer. The couple died on the scene, but the truck driver was thankfully unharmed.
Night time driving is exceptionally dangerous. Factors such as fatigue and low visibility can impact a driver’s ability to respond to a changing environment. It’s possible the couple never noticed that the tractor trailer was moving slowly until it was too late (from initial reports, it doesn’t appear as though the semi-truck hit its brakes unexpectedly). We may never know what truly led to this tragic accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of this wreck.
Drive safely, Dallas.
