BRIDGEPORT, TX (04/15/2018) — A Sunday evening car accident on Highway 380 / TX-114 has left a mother and child with serious injuries.
38-year-old Stephanie Mayfield was heading eastbound on U.S. 380 in a 2015 Toyota Camry, when her vehicle was struck head-on by the driver of a 2006 Dodge Ram.
According to Department of Public Safety Trooper Chesley Womack, the driver of the Ram pickup truck (identified as Will Reeves, 18, of Runaway Bay) was traveling westbound, and following too close to the vehicle ahead of him. As traffic in front of him slowed, the driver took faulty evasive action to the left, crossing into oncoming lanes of traffic.
As a result of the collision, Stephanie Mayfield and her 12-year-old daughter (identified as Mollie Mayfield) suffered serious injuries and were transported to area hospitals by air ambulance.
Stephanie Mayfield was flown to John Peter Smith Hospital by Lifeteam Air Evac., while Mollie Mayfield was flown by PHI to Cook Children’s Hospital. Will Reeves was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
