Labor Day turned tragic for two families this year with a car accident claiming 4 lives.
The Texas Department of Public Safety released the names of four people killed in a collision near Woodville.
Troopers say a Ford F250 pickup driven by Travis Layne Jordan, 18, of Devers, was traveling south when it crossed over into the northbound lanes and hit a Dodge pickup with an RV in tow driven by Robert Alan Beard, 48, of Tyler.
Robert Beard was pronounced deceased at the scene and his passenger, Leslie McCaa, 41, of Tyler, was taken to CHRISTUS Hospital St. Elizabeth with serious injuries. Jordan, his grandfather, Harvey Lamar DuBose of Hull, and grandmother, Ann Jones DuBose were also pronounced deceased by a Tyler County Justices of the Peace at the scene.
This is an active crash investigation as troopers work diligently to determine the factors that lead to the fatal crash.
“Our prayers and deepest sympathy go out to each family that has been affected by this tragic event,” said the DPS in a statement released Monday night.
