Exams are around the bend, and here’s a new equation to consider:
MIST + SUN + RUSH HOUR =
I-20 MAYHEM
After being pummeled with spring storms yesterday evening, commuters heading westbound along I-20 experienced what can only be described as an unfortunate series of events. Thousands of water droplets misting in the air served as magnifying glasses for the setting sun and blanketed the Arlington stretch of Interstate in blinding light. As drivers slowed to compensate, those behind them (blinded by the light) begin crashing into them. The result was a massive vehicle pile up involving cars, SUVs, and 18 wheelers Tuesday afternoon. We’re not quite sure exactly how many vehicles were involved. My Fox DFW reports around 25; WFAA says it was closer to 50.
Thankfully, no one was seriously injured in Tuesday’s car accident. Fort Worth car accident attorney Jeff Rasansky has seen accidents like these leave dozens critically injured. For now, it looks like property damage is the main concern for drivers involved in the I20 pile up. Hopefully, everyone has good collision coverage. Determining fault in a situation involving weather is sticky; insurance adjustors and legal professionals will be sorting this mess out for months to come.
Drive safely, Dallas.
