“It’s Not Worth It”
My Fox DFW showed this story last night, and I thought it appropriate to post here.
As a father of three, personal injury lawyer Jeff Rasansky has familiarized himself – and his kids – with the risks associated with smart phone usage while driving. While most campaigns highlight the texting element, Jeff reminds his children that texting isn’t really the issue: distraction is. Distracted driving leads to accidents.
Distraction.gov breaks driving distractions down into three categories – Visual (eyes aren’t on the road), Manual (hands aren’t on the wheel), and Cognitive (mind is wandering). The problem with texting while driving is that it falls into all THREE categories. Your eyes are on your phone, your hands are being used to type, and your mind is focused on what you want to communicate. It’s a recipe for disaster – something Jamie reminds us of in her interview with My Fox.
Drive safely, Dallas.
