It’s not the way you want the Thanksgiving holiday to end. 17-year-old Christian Hernandez passed away this past Saturday when the car he was riding in plowed into a Fort Worth home.
The rain had just started falling Friday night when Christian and three friends were driving along Loving Avenue. Around midnight, the 19-year-old driver lost control of the Chevrolet Cobalt. Leaving the road, it skidded through the front lawn of a home, ran through a retaining wall, and slammed into a pickup truck. The Cobalt flipped and crashed into a garage-turned-bedroom along the 3000 block of Loving Avenue.
While three of the youth in the car were unharmed, Christian was severely injured when the roof of the bedroom collapsed on him. He was rushed to John Peter Smith Hospital, where he passed away from his injuries.
Christian was a student at North Side High School in Fort Worth.
