Yesterday afternoon in Wichita Falls, 58-year-old Roy Lee Pope died in an ambulance on the way to the hospital after a car smashed into the ambulance.
Pope had been attacked by bees and was unconscious inside the ambulance. The paramedics were busy trying to revive him, when the other car entered the intersection and hit the ambulance. The force of the collision shoved the ambulance as far as 60 ft. and knocked the emergency vehicle on to its side.
Pope died, whether or not it was from the crash or the bee stings is unclear. What is clear, is that his chances of revival were cut short when an irresponsible driver ignored the ambulance’s sirens and crashed. Thankfully, the paramedics suffered only minor injuries as did the driver of the other vehicle.
