The Dallas Morning News online crime blog reports that 29-year-old Sergio Hernandez of Lewisville was arrested for intoxication manslaughter in connection with a fatal car wreck. The accident occurred Monday evening in Grapevine in the 1800 block of Highway 114.
Harlon Smith, age 38, was killed in the accident. According to Grapevine Police Officer Sam Shemwell, Hernandez’s car hit the back of Smith’s vehicle. Hernandez’s breathalyzer test was damning – he blew a .182 which is more than twice the legal limit. He has since been arrested and faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in jail with a potential fine of up to $10,000.
Not much is known about the victim at this time, other than that the crime blog reports he was from Mississippi. The investigation by the Grapevine Police is still underway.
