Fort Worth, Texas — 47-year-old David Martinez is dead, and six others have been hospitalized following a major accident in the 3000 block of Texas 114 in far north Fort Worth Sunday (01/19/2014) evening.
The accident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. when, according to reports, a red four-door Dodge car was crossing highway 114 near Championship Parkway when the driver failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a white Honda traveling eastbound on 114. The collision sent the Honda, which was carrying a family of four, rolling over into the ditch.
The driver, 47-year-old father David Martinez, was killed at the scene. His daughter (believed to be 8 or 9-years-old) was taken by CareFlite to Cook Children’s Medical Center in critical condition. Mr. Martinez’s wife and son (believed to be around 14-years-old) were both transported to via MedStar (ground ambulance) to area hospitals.
The driver and two occupants of the Dodge, all believed to be between the ages of 16-18, were taken to area hospitals with injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening. No arrests or citations have been made yet, but officials say the case will be referred to the Denton County District Attorney’s office for review.
