HALTOM CITY, TX (02/18/2015) — A wrong-way driver on Airport Freeway Wednesday morning caused an accident which sent both drivers to the hospital.
The crash was reported at about 5:00 a.m. Wednesday morning in the southbound lanes of Airport Freeway (SH 121). According to reports, a man traveling north in the southbound lanes struck an oncoming vehicle head-on in the 6800 block of Airport Freeway (near Minnis Drive).
The driver of the wrong-way vehicle had to be cut out of his vehicle and was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth in serious condition. The driver of the other vehicle, also male, was transported to JPS Hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. There were no passengers in either vehicle. According to one report, the man struck by the wrong-way driver is an active duty marine who was heading into work at the time.
