SOUTHMAYD, TX (05/01/2015) — 75-year-old Carol Miller has died following an accident at the intersection of Highway 289 and Highway 56 in Southmayd.
The intersection where Highway 289 and Highway 56 meet has been referenced as dangerous, since the site is prone to many car accidents. Unfortunately, this past weekend, 75-year-old Carol Miller of Pottsboro, Texas was killed in an accident at this very location.
According to Southmayd Police Chief Ron Blackwell, Miller was traveling southbound on Highway 289 in a gold-colored sedan and exited to the service road just before Highway 56. It’s unclear whether or not she stopped at the stop sign before continuing through the intersection, however, she was side swiped by a vehicle heading westbound on Highway 56. It was reported that Miller later passed away at the hospital.
