FORT WORTH, TX (05/08/2015) — Four students were injured after two Robinson ISD school buses crashed early Friday morning in Fort Worth, Texas.
According to reports, two school buses from Robinson ISD—located in the Waco area—collided early Friday morning at around 9:00 a.m. An estimated 86 people were involved in the crash, most of which were sixth and seventh grade students; they were traveling to a band competition in Fort Worth.
Reportedly, the accident occurred after one bus rear-ended the other near the intersection of Interstate-35W and Allen Avenue in Fort Worth. A third bus from the district was traveling with the group, but was not involved in the wreck. The cause of the accident is uncertain at this time.
Matt Zavadsky, a MedStar EMS spokesman, stated that a 13-year-old girl was taken to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth for a shoulder injury. Three other children suffered lesser injuries, which were treated at the scene.
According to Superintendent Michael Hope, the district sent additional buses to transport the children home. They will have to miss the event.
