DALLAS, TX (05/15/2015) — 60-year-old Bernard Armstrong was killed last Friday after being fatally struck on North Central Expressway near Southwestern Boulevard in Dallas, Texas.
According to Dallas police, 60-year-old road crew worker Bernard Armstrong was killed last Friday after being fatally struck on US-75 in Dallas, Texas by 42-year-old Nicole Hutchison. Records indicate that Hutchison was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Police say that Armstrong was a street-sweeper contractor for Pannell Industries. He had been driving a “crash cushion” truck—a warning truck that flashes and signals drivers to slow down and go around—behind a street sweeper in the 7700 block of North Central Expressway, near Southwestern Boulevard.
Armstrong was standing next to the truck on the shoulder when Hutchison struck his truck and then him with her 2009 Mercedes ML350.
Police state that Armstrong later died from massive internal injuries just after 4:00 a.m. at Texas Health Presbyterian in Dallas.
Hutchison admitted to police that she had been to restaurant earlier in the evening and to the Empire Room on Riverfront Boulevard; she claims to have only had one glass of wine at each location. Hutchison appeared drunk and smelled like alcohol at the scene and police gave her a field sobriety test, which she failed; police charged her with intoxication manslaughter.
Hutchison posted a $50,000 bond and is out of Dallas County jail.
