RED OAK, TX (05/23/2015) — A two-vehicle crash killed Juan Mancilla, 19; Jose Mancilla, 21; and Ethan Woods, 19; and seriously injured 19-year-old Hunter Manley on Saturday night at the intersection of FM 664 and Batchler Road in Ellis County.
According to reports, Juan Mancilla, 19; Jose Mancilla, 21; and Ethan Woods, 19; were all killed in a two-vehicle crash on Saturday near Red Oak just after 1:00 a.m. at the intersection of FM 664 and Batchler Road. Woods’ passenger, 19-year-old Hunter Manley, was the sole survivor of the crash.
Authorities state that 19-year-old Juan Mancilla was traveling eastbound on FM 664 in a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee with his brother, 21-year-old Jose Mancilla, in the passenger seat. Mancilla allegedly ran a stop sign at Batchler Road and collided with the driver’s side of a 1999 Ford F-250 driven by Ethan Woods. Woods was traveling northbound on Batchler Road at the time of the collision.
Trooper James Colunga stated that the Mancilla brothers died at the scene; they were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. “It was coincidental,” Colunga said. “They ran a stop sign, and he [Woods] was at the wrong place at the wrong time.”
According Colunga, Woods also died at the scene. Manley, his passenger, was flown to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas with serious injuries; his condition is unknown at this time.
The Texas Department of Public Safety states that a preliminary investigation indicated that the Jeep Cherokee did not have the headlights on at the time of the crash.
Ellis County DPS Troopers continue to investigate the fatal accident.
