ROCKWALL, TX (05/23/2015) — The driver of an 18-wheeler was killed Saturday night as a result of a multi-vehicle crash along I-30 near Horizon Road in Rockwall, Texas.
According to police, a deadly, multi-vehicle crash occurred on Saturday night around 6:30 p.m. in Rockwall on Interstate 30 near Horizon Road.
Authorities state that the multi-vehicle accident first began in the westbound lanes of I-30 and resulted in an 18-wheeler crossing a concrete divider into the eastbound lanes, which caused additional collisions. The driver of the 18-wheeler—whose identity has not yet been released—was killed in the accident.
Police spokesman Aaron McGrew stated that several 18-wheelers and passenger vehicles were involved in the crash; the exact number of victims is unknown at this time.
According to McGrew, two people were transported to nearby area hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Police believe that weather may have played in a role in the pile-up.
The incident is being investigated by the Rockwall Police Department Traffic Division.
