KRUM, TX (06/09/2015) — A 35-year-old man was taken to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton on Tuesday after his vehicle was rear-ended at a train crossing on FM 1173 in Krum, Texas.
According to reports, a 35-year-old man was taken to the hospital on Tuesday morning after his vehicle was rear-ended at a train crossing guard in the 3400 block of FM 1173 near Interstate 35 in Krum, Texas.
Spokesman for Texas Highway Patrol, Sgt. Lonny Haschel, stated that the incident occurred just before 10:00 a.m. when an 18-year-old man driving a white Ford E-250 van, traveling westbound, rear-ended a 35-year-old man driving a silver Cadillac Escalade.
According to Krum Fire Capt. Corey Gregory, the 18-year-old was “looking down at a piece of paper” at the time of the incident. When he looked up, he didn’t have time to stop his vehicle.
The train stopped and was not involved in the collision.
Gregory stated that the 35-year-old man was transported to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton for minor injuries; the 18-year-old was treated and released at the scene.
