ABILENE, TX (06/27/2015) — A T-bone accident injured a man and a woman, and claimed the life of 30-year-old Stephanie Petty on Saturday.
According to the Abilene Police Department, 30-year-old Stephanie Petty died at the scene of a crash on S. 14th Street and S. Willis Street in Abilene, Texas early Saturday morning.
Reportedly, at around 1:00 a.m., Petty was traveling northbound on S. Willis Street in a Honda Accord when she failed to stop at a flashing red light. A Toyota SUV traveling eastbound on S. 14th Street—which had a blinking yellow light—was unable to stop before striking the Accord.
Police stated that Petty was only occupant in the Accord, and was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident; she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The occupants of the SUV, a 23-year-old male and 24-year-old female, were taken to Hendrick Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The Abilene PD is currently investigating this crash, and they’re awaiting toxicology results to determine if alcohol was a factor.
