NACOGDOCHES, TX (07/04/2015) — A head-on car accident has claimed the life of Felipe Medina Hernandez and left his two sons hospitalized.
The Nacogdoches Police Department has confirmed that 32-year-old Felipe Medina Hernandez was killed on Saturday morning after a two-vehicle head-on collision in the 4300 block of Southeast Stallings Drive (Loop 224) in Nacogdoches, Texas.
According to the accident report, shortly before 8:00 a.m., 43-year-old Candel Roberts Cloudy was traveling southbound on Loop 224 in a 2003 Ford 350 van when she crossed the center lane and struck a northbound 2001 Dodge pickup truck (driven by Hernandez) head-on.
Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene. His two sons, 9-year-old Edgar and 7-year-old Luis, were transported to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital, where they underwent surgery.
Nacogdoches Police Department Sgt. Brent Handy stated that Cloudy was severely injured and was also taken to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital; she was later flown to East Texas Medical Center (ETMC) in Tyler, Texas.
The conditions of the two children and Cloudy are unknown at this time.
The Nacogdoches Fire Department continues to investigate this fatal crash.
