HASKELL, TX (07/14/2015) — A head-on car accident claimed the life of 46-year-old Cornelius Dessivia late Tuesday night.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), 46-year-old Cornelius Dessivia Jr., of Haskell, was killed on Tuesday night after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 380, about three miles east Haskell, Texas.
According to reports, at around 10:00 p.m., an eastbound Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Erin Dunnam of Haskell, swerved left and into the westbound lane to avoid hitting a wild hog. The maneuver caused the vehicle to strike a westbound Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Dessivia. Both vehicles spun out and came to a rest in the north barrow ditch.
Cornelius “Buckwheat” Dessivia Jr. was transported to Haskell Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Dunnam was treated and released.
