AUSTIN, TX (07/24/2015) — Two people were killed, and five others were injured, after an 18-wheeler collided with a pickup truck early Friday morning.

According to police, a two-vehicle crash involving a pickup truck and an 18-wheeler resulted in two fatalities and several injuries early Friday morning along Interstate 35 near Rutherford Lane in Austin, Texas.
Police stated that at around 1:30 a.m., a pickup truck had pulled over for unknown reasons when an 18-wheeler rear-ended the vehicle at high speed. A total of six occupants were in the pickup truck—two adults and four juveniles.
The crash killed a woman and a teenage girl (both were occupants of the pickup truck). EMS took three other children to Dell Children’s Medical Center in critical condition. The other adult passenger was transported to University Medical Center Breckenridge with critical injuries.
The female driver of the 18-wheeler was also injured, and is expected to recover.
Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in this fatal crash.
