PECOS, TX (07/31/2015) — 18-wheeler driver, 49-year-old Abraham Cereceres, was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 285.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has confirmed that 49-year-old Abraham Cereceres, of Fort Stockton, has died following an 18-wheeler crash on Friday night on Highway 285 in Reeves County, Texas.
According to reports, Manuel Sanchez-Cobarrubias, 50, was traveling southbound on Highway 285 in a 2003 Peterbilt 18-wheeler when he attempted to pass a 2007 International tractor-trailer, driven by Cereceres at about 9:35 p.m.
As Sanchez-Cobarrubias’ Peterbilt 18-wheeler attempted to pass on the left, Cereceres began to turn left onto a lease road. The two 18-wheelers collided, causing the International tractor-trailer burst into flames and come to rest in a barrow ditch.
Abraham Cereceres was pronounced dead at the scene.
Manuel Sanchez-Cobarrubias was transported to Reeves County Hospital, where he has been listed in stable condition.
