WHITNEY, TX (08/11/2015) – 65-year-old John Russell Jr. was killed in a motorcycle-vs-car accident Tuesday morning.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), 65-year-old John Vernon Russell, Jr. died in a motorcycle accident at the intersection of Highway 22 and Catherine Drive in Whitney, Texas on Tuesday morning.
DPS Trooper D.L. Wilson stated that at around 9:00 a.m., Russell was riding his motorcycle westbound on Highway 22 when an eastbound 2009 Subaru SUV attempted to turn left onto Catherine Drive, directly in the path of Russell’s Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Russell was unable to avoid a collision and the motorcycle struck the passenger side of the SUV. Russell was killed in the wreckage.
The female driver of the SUV was reportedly hurt, but is expected to be okay.
