GERONIMO, TX (08/10/2015) – A Monday night, multi-vehicle crash killed one teenager and left three others injured.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), a multi-vehicle crash near Geronimo, Texas on Highway 123 North at Thormeyer Road (FM 124) killed 19-year-old Kelly Nicole Forster and left three others injured Monday evening.
DPS troopers stated that a Chevrolet Equinox—driven by 66-year-old Helen Coleman—was traveling southbound on Highway 123 when it attempted to make a left turn onto Thormeyer Road. For unknown reasons, a Toyota passenger car (18-year-old Darby Shae Jones) rear-ended the Equinox as it slowed down for the turn.
The impact caused both vehicles to cross the highway.
The Equinox was able to avoid another collision, however, the Toyota was struck on the passenger side by a dump truck, driven by 67-year-old Eustacio Moreno Jr.
The collision with the dump truck caused the Toyota to spin and strike a southbound Ford F-150, driven by 19-year-old Austin Fey.
Kelly Forster, who was Jones’ passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Firefighters had to cut Jones from the wreckage, and she was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center via helicopter for treatment.
According to authorities, Eustacio Moreno was taken to Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos, Texas via ambulance for treatment. Helen Coleman was transported to Resolute Health Center in New Braunfels, Texas via personal vehicle for treatment.
Fey was reportedly uninjured.
