GUSTINE, TX (08/14/2015) – Paul Figenshaw was killed, and Margaret Figenshaw was seriously injured, after a multi-vehicle crash on Friday evening.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), a four-vehicle crash along Highway 36 claimed the life of 51-year-old Paul Michael Figenshaw, and seriously injured 19-year-old Margaret Mary Figenshaw, on Friday evening near Gustine, Texas.
DPS stated that at around 5:00 p.m., 65-year-old Hardy Wilson Reed Jr. was traveling southbound in a 2007 Peterbilt 18-wheeler truck, when a 2013 Chrysler 200—driven by 34-year-old Darlene Ottaberry Womack—crossed the center line of the highway and struck the semi truck.
The initial impact caused the Chrysler to spin around and enter a ditch next to the roadway. Womack was uninjured.
Driving behind Womack in a 2015 Nissan Rouge was 48-year-old Kim Figenshaw. Figenshaw was able to take evasive action and missed striking the 18-wheeler. Her vehicle only sustained minor damage from flying debris. However, a 2012 Ford Focus driven by Paul Figenshaw was not able to avoid a head-on collision with the Peterbilt truck.
Paul Figenshaw was pronounced dead at the scene. Margaret Figenshaw was transported to Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas with incapacitating injuries. The other drivers involved were reportedly uninjured, or are expected to make a fully recover from minor injuries.
