LAREDO, TX (08/29/2015) — Two female joggers were killed, and one female jogger was critically injured, after they were struck by a vehicle on Saturday morning.
According to authorities, 32-year-old Karina Villarreal and 29-year-old Adriana Rodriguez were both killed, and 34-year-old Monica Pastrana was critically injured, after a man struck them with his vehicle on Saturday morning as they were walking on the sidewalk in the 1500 block of Jacaman Road in Laredo, Texas.
Police state that 22-year-old Jose Marquez Jr., driving a maroon Chevy Silverado pickup truck, struck Villarreal, Rodriguez, and Pastrana as they jogged on the sidewalk, then struck a light pole.
Both Villarreal and Rodriguez, who were teachers, died from their injuries.
Pastrana was flown to University Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, where she has been listed in critical condition.
According to police, Marquez has been arrested and charged with two counts of manslaughter and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
