KILGORE, TX (08/30/2015) — A suspect has been arrested after 5-year-old Kilgore ISD Kindergartener was struck and killed on Sunday while he was riding a push scooter.
According to the Kilgore Police Department (KPD), 5-year-old Robert Jack Moorhead was killed on Sunday afternoon when he was struck by a vehicle in the 1900 block of Florence Street in Kilgore, Texas.
A press release from the KPD stated that at around 3:00 p.m., Moorhead was riding a push scooter when 25-year-old Krysten Nycole McCarty struck him with her gray minivan. After the incident, McCarty fled the scene.
Moorhead was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center’s Kilgore Emergency Room, where he later died.
According to authorities, McCarty was located on Monday and arrested for causing an accident involving death, which is a felony.
“Mrs. McCarty was subsequently arrested and booked into the Kilgore Municipal Jail,” said KPD Assistant Chief Roman Roberson.
