KIRBYVILLE, TX (09/06/2015) — James Jackson was killed early Sunday morning after his vehicle was rear-ended on Highway 96.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), 79-year-old James Lamar Jackson (of Call, Texas) was killed after his pickup truck was rear-ended on Sunday morning in Kirbyville, Texas.
DPS reports that at around 4:30 a.m., Jackson was traveling northbound on Highway 96 in a 1997 Ford pickup truck when the driver of a northbound 2000 Ford F-250 failed to control his speed and rear-ended Jackson’s vehicle. That driver has been identified as 20-year-old Tyler Gibson.
Jackson was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas where he was pronounced deceased at 6:19 a.m.
Gibson was issued a citation for failure to control speed. It is unclear whether additional charges are pending.
This fatal car accident remains under investigation.
