SAN ANTONIO, TX (09/17/2015) — A motorcycle accident left a 22-year-old man with severe injuries Thursday afternoon.
According to San Antonio police, a 22-year-old motorcyclist lost both of his legs after an accident on Loop 1604 at Wiseman Road in San Antonio, Texas on Thursday afternoon.
Authorities report that at around 2:30 p.m., the driver of a silver Fort pickup truck was traveling southbound on Loop 1604 when he made a U-turn to go northbound. According to police, the driver took the turn wide as two men on motorcycles were approaching.
Patrolman Ricardo Perez stated that one motorcyclist was able to brake in time; however, the other man collided with the truck and was ejected from his bike. As a result of the collision, the biker was thrown from his bike, traveled about 150 feet, and struck the Sea World (Texas 151) exit sign, severing both of his legs.
The man was taken by air ambulance (CareFlite) to a nearby hospital for treatment, but police report that he was responsive before being transported to the hospital.
This wreck remains under investigation.
