MONTGOMERY, TX (09/20/2015) — A multi-vehicle accident on Sunday injured two teenagers and claimed the lives of four family members.
According to the Conroe Police Department (CPD), four members of the Sedlmeier family—Roland Sedlmeier, 49; Melinda Sedlmeier, 42; Harley Sedlmeier, 6; and Sofie Sedlmeier, 4—were killed on Sunday afternoon following a multi-vehicle accident in the 15600 block of Highway 105 (near Tejas Boulevard) in Montgomery, Texas.
CPD stated that shortly before 1:00 p.m., 68-year-old Ronald Cooper was traveling westbound on Highway 105 in a 2011 Hyundai Azera when he rear-ended a 2011 Toyota Echo—the Sedlmeier family car.
After the initial impact, the Echo spun out of control and into the eastbound lanes where the vehicle was struck again by a 2015 Jeep Wrangler, causing both vehicles to flip onto their sides.
The four members of the Sedlmeier family tragically lost their lives in the wreckage.
“They were very pleasant people, very friendly people and they are going to be missed a lot by not only our neighbors but others here in the community,” said John Tricoli.
According to the CPD, the two teenage occupants of the Wrangler were injured in the accident. They were transported to Conroe Regional Medical Center, where they have since been treated and released.
Police arrested and charged Ronald Cooper with four counts of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault.
