EDINBURG, TX (09/24/2015) — Four men were killed after their vehicle rear-ended an 18-wheeler wreck on Thursday afternoon.
According to Edinburg police, a two-vehicle accident along Highway 281 at FM 2812 on Thursday killed four men: 30-year-old Ramon Torres Jr., 21-year-old Oscar Rojas Torres, 27-year-old Jorge Magallanes Torres, and 18-year-old Wilfredo Antonio Hernandez.
Edinburg Lieutenant Oscar Trevino stated that at around 2:45 p.m., a gray Ford Mustang GT (driven by Ramon Torres) was traveling southbound when he allegedly failed to control his speed and rear-ended an 18-wheeler preparing to make a right turn.
The impact claimed the lives of the three Torres men and Hernandez—their fourth occupant.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured, however, he was transported to a nearby area hospital as a precautionary measure.
Police believe that alcohol and speed may have been contributing factors in this fatal wreck. An investigation is ongoing.
