KOUNTZE, TX (10/18/2015) — A total of nine people were hospitalized after a five-car pile-up on Sunday.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), a multi-vehicle crash on Sunday along Highway 69 at Oilfield Loop Road in Kountze, Texas injured nine people, including:
- Mark Jefferson (57 years old)
- Ashley Shows (21 years old)
- Scott Paulino (43 years old)
- Tiffany Jackson (26 years old)
- Lynn Williams (47 years old)
While details are limited at this time, the DPS reported that at around 7:30 p.m., the driver of a Mercedes (Mark Jefferson) and the driver of a Nissan (Ashley Shows) collided head-on, which caused three other vehicles to crash into those two vehicles.
DPS Troopers stated that Jefferson and his passenger, as well as Shows and her front passenger, were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment of unknown injuries. The accident also injured Paulino and his passenger (Jackson), and Williams.
Ashley Shows also had a child in the back seat, who was transported to Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston, Texas.
An investigation is currently ongoing.
