MANOR, TX (10/23/2015) — Carol Voutsainas was killed, and two others were injured, following a multi-vehicle pile-up on Friday.
Authorities have identified 65-year-old Carol Voutsainas as the victim of a multi-vehicle car accident on Friday afternoon that occurred in the 14800 block of Highway 290, near FM 1100, in Manor, Texas.
Police believe that this accident was weather-related.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) stated that at around 4:52 p.m., a westbound tow truck transporting a vehicle hydroplaned and struck Voutsainas’ oncoming vehicle.
According to the Austin-Travis County EMS, a total of four vehicles and five victims were involved in this accident. Two adults refused medical treatment, and two were hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police continue to investigate this fatal wreck.
Commentary
An estimated 23 percent of traffic accidents are weather-related. Police believe this accident was weather-related as well. Does that mean the driver who caused the accident is off the hook in regard to liability? Absolutely not. Drivers must always act with regard to the safety of others, including altering driving habits in accordance with the conditions.
