CLEBURNE, TX (10/30/2015) — A Friday night wrong-way accident left Jay Greenidge dead, and 3 others injured.
Police have identified 18-year-old Jay Greenidge as the victim of a fatal two-vehicle accident on Friday night along FM 3048 in Cleburne, Texas.
Authorities stated that at around 5:10 p.m., 23-year-old Jesus Rene Delapaz was traveling westbound when he crossed the center line and struck Greenidge’s vehicle on the driver’s side.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), rainy weather conditions were present at the time of the crash.
Greenidge was transported to a Fort Worth hospital, where he later died.
Delapaz, as well as two passengers from Greenidge’s vehicle were also taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Commentary
Could this accident have been prevented by simply driving to conditions? That’s certainly possible. Remember that speed limits show the maximum driving speed in perfect road conditions. Taking extra precautionary measures in inclement weather can do more than prevent an accident; it can saves lives.
