JASPER, TX (12/15/2015) — The driver of an 18-wheeler caused an wreck that left Jesse James McNabb injured on Tuesday morning.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) identified 32-year-old Jesse James McNabb as the injured victim of an 18-wheeler accident that occurred at the intersection of Highway 63, FM 2799, and FM 3414 in Jasper, Texas.
DPS Trooper Stephanie Davis stated that at around 11:00 a.m., McNabb was traveling eastbound along Highway 63 in a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup truck. In front of McNabb was an eastbound 2012 Peterbilt truck, operated by Central States Manufacturing, Inc., of Cedar Hill, Texas, and driven by 35-year-old Dusty Holland.
Trooper Davis reported that Holland slowed down and moved into the left lane as if to exit onto FM 2499, and McNabb continued along Highway 63 in the right lane at highway speed.
As McNabb’s truck began to pass by the 18-wheeler, the truck driver made a sudden right turn into JBC Metal Buildings. To avoid a collision, McNabb swerved, left the highway, hit a concrete culvert and flipped his vehicle. Both the DPS and several witnesses say the driver of the 18-wheeler was to blame for the accident.
When emergency services arrived, McNabb was on the ground being treated by witnesses. Trooper Davis stated that Holland continued into JBC Metal Buildings to begin unloading his trailer. He was issued a citation for turning when unsafe.
McNabb was transported to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment of head injuries and possible internal injuries.

The Texas Department of Public Safety stated that the victim’s life was saved by a seat belt. In Texas, the Click-It or Ticket-It campaign urges drivers to buckle-up before driving to prevent getting a ticket, and most importantly, to protect you from potentially fatal injuries should an accident occur. In fact, you’re 60 percent more likely to survive a crash if you’re seat belt is fastened. We always recommend the use of a seat belt, whether you’re traveling two miles or twenty.
