TRENTON, TX (01/22/2016) — A two-vehicle accident early Friday evening claimed the lives of James and Sherry Bunce and injured two others.
According to authorities, James Bunce and Sherry Bunce were killed following a t-bone car accident that occurred on Highway 121 near County Road 4601 in Trenton, Texas.
Trenton Police Captain Kevin Mayberry stated that at around 5:30 p.m., the Bunce’s were pulling out of their driveway when their vehicle was struck by a northbound vehicle, driven by Rush Smith. Smith is a police officer in Anna, Texas, and was off-duty at the time of the car accident.
James and Sherry Bunce were pronounced dead at the scene. Their 13-year-old grandchild suffered injuries and was flown to Children’s Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He has since been released.
Rush Smith has been hospitalized at Baylor Hospital in McKinney, Texas with non-life-threatening injuries.
This fatal wreck remains under investigation.
