SAN ANGELO, TX (02/11/2016) — A drunk driver caused a car accident that left two teenagers injured: Jesikah Dominguez and Jose Garcia.
According to the San Angelo Police Department (SAPD), 18-year-old Jesikah Dominguez and 19-year-old Jose Garcia were both injured after a two-vehicle car accident that occurred in the 2800 block of N. Chadbourne Street in San Angelo, Texas.
Sgt. Cade Solsbery stated that at around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, 47-year-old James Paul Hall was traveling northbound in a white 2000 Dodge Ram when he attempted to make a left turn into a private business. Hall failed to yield right-of-way and collided with Dominguez’s white 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt.
After the initial collision, Hall collided with an unoccupied white 2011 Mini Cooper, as well as a post that was connected to the awning of a business.
Officials reported that Dominguez and Garcia were transported to Shannon Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
Hall was arrested and charged with intoxication assault; he is being held at the Tom Green County Jail.
Commentary
We often discuss what drivers should do to avoid getting behind the wheel while intoxicated; however, what should the victims of drunk driving-related accidents do? In cases where an intoxicated driver has caused an accident and left you injured, you (or your attorney) will need to file a personal injury claim with the insurance company. While they are not going to voluntarily offer a victim what they’re truly owed, victims always have the opportunity to hire a personal injury lawyer to advocate on their behalf and take it to court (if need be).
If you do choose to seek legal representation, my only recommendation is to seek out attorneys who works on “contingency.” This way the victim never fronts any of the costs, and the lawyer only gets paid if he or she actually wins your case.
