MANSFIELD, TX (04/04/2016) — 68-year-old Peter Yu was killed, and an 18-year-old woman was hospitalized after both of their vehicles were involved in a wrong-way accident on Monday morning.
According to Mansfield police, the two-vehicle accident occurred in the 800 block of South Second Street in Mansfield, Texas.
Police spokesman Thad Penkala stated that at around 8:45 a.m., two pickup trucks were traveling in opposite directions when they collided with one another.
The driver of one of the vehicles, 68-year-old Peter Yu, died at the scene. His vehicle was reported to have traveled across two lanes of traffic before coming to rest in a parking lot.
The driver of the second pickup truck—an 18-year-old woman who has yet to be identified—was flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas for treatment of injuries. As of Monday, she has been listed in stable condition.
An investigation for this accident is ongoing.

Google StreetView images indicate that the site of the wreck was near an intersection, but doesn’t appear to be near any major obstructions. Although we’re not sure who or what caused the accident at this time, perhaps the driver who caused the crash misjudged the approaching vehicle while attempting to make a turn. Unfortunately, there has not been much information released at this time.
