FLINT, TX (04/04/2016) — Christina Arce and Matthew Collins were both killed on Monday following a tractor trailer accident that also injured Otis Bazile and 2 others.
Authorities have identified the victims of an 18-wheeler vs car accident that occurred at the intersection of FM 2661 and CR 1261 (AKA Big Eddy Rd.) in Flint, Texas as:
- 27-year-old Christina Y. Arce
- 32-year-old Otis P. Bazile
- 27-year-old Matthew Collins.
Police reported that at around 3:15 p.m., a 2015 Hyundai Accent, driven by Collins, approached a stop sign on the eastbound side of CR 1261 (near the Villages Resort on Lake Palestine) when he allegedly failed to yield right-of-way to a 2007 Freightliner semi-truck.
The 18-wheeler broadsided Collins’ Hyundai, which then struck a northbound, 2008 Toyota Avalon, driven by Bazile.
Officials stated that Matthew Collins (of Austin) and his passenger, Christina Arce (also of Austin), both lost their lives in the wreckage.
Otis Bazile (of Dallas) was transported to UT health Center, where he was treated and released. The two other occupants of the Toyota were also injured, however, their current conditions and identities are unknown.
An investigation is pending.
