THE COLONY, TX (04/05/2016) — Husband and wife Stephanie and Jeremy Byington were both killed on Tuesday night when a drunk driver allegedly ran a red light struck their motorcycle.
The Colony Police Department has identified Stephanie Byington and Jeremy Byington, both 42, as the victims of a fatal car-vs-motorcycle accident that occurred along the service road of Highway 121 at Plano Parkway in The Colony, Texas.
According to Sgt. Jay Goodson with The Colony Police Department, at around 8:00 p.m., the couple was riding a motorcycle on Plano Parkway (heading toward the Sam Rayburn Tollway [SH-121]), when an intoxicated driver ran a red light on the service road and struck their motorcycle. “What’s even more sad is their 21-year-old son [Bryce] was on a motorcycle behind and witnessed the accident,” according to Goodson.
Both Stephanie and Jeremy Byington died at the scene. The male and female occupants of the vehicle that caused the accident were taken to Presbyterian Hospital of Plano with non-life-threatening injuries.
As of Wednesday morning, police did confirm that he driver involved was intoxicated at the time of the wreck and had a blood alcohol level of 0.10.
“It looks like alcohol was a factor, and the driver will be charged with intoxication manslaughter,” Goodson said.
