UPDATE 04/15/2016: Denton police have reported that Ashley Morgan’s cellphone was in use immediately before the fatal car accident. Police did not say whether the phone was used to text, call, or something else.
ARGYLE, TX (04/09/2016) — Emma Azuela de Shaffer, Emma “Tita” Shaffer, Ashley Morgan, and Lorelei Cotter were all killed in a Saturday night head-on crash.
Denton police have identified the four victims of a fatal head-on collision as: 41-year-old Emma Lourdes Shaffer, 12-year-old Emma “Tita” Shaffer, 26-year-old Ashley Morgan, and 3-year-old Lorelei Cotter.
Police reported that the accident occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m. along Highway 377 in Argyle, Texas.
Officials stated that the driver of a Nissan Rogue (Ashley Morgan) was traveling southbound when it crossed into northbound traffic and collided with a Volvo XC60 head-on.
The female driver of the Nissan and the child passenger of the Volvo died at the scene; the female driver of the Volvo and the child occupant of the Nissan were transported to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano, where they later died. At this time, it is uncertain who was located in which vehicle.
Police do not believe that speed or alcohol were factors in this crash.
