WICHITA FALLS, TX (05/02/2016) — Brandon Eddington was killed when the car he was riding in was broadsided on Monday night.
According to the Wichita Falls Police Department (WFPD), 33-year-old Brandon Eddington died in a two-vehicle car wreck that occurred at the intersection of Kell West Boulevard and Taft Street in Wichita Falls, Texas.
The WFPD reported that at around 10:45 p.m., the 33-year-old driver of a red Pontiac Grand Am ran a red light on northbound Taft Street. The driver of a Chevrolet Silverado—who was traveling on Kell West Boulevard—was unable to stop and struck the Pontiac’s passenger side.
Eddington, a passenger in the Pontiac, lost his life in the wreckage. The driver of the Pontiac remains in the ICU at a hospital in the area. The driver of the truck sustained only minor injuries.
Police believe alcohol might be a factor, however, no charges have been filed.
This car accident remains under investigation.
Commentary
Although police have not completed an investigation, they do indicate that the suspected intoxicated driver failed in his responsibility as the operator of his vehicle. His actions claimed the life of one person and injured another. Unfortunate examples like this one are why we urge drivers to think twice before getting behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
