HOWE, TX (05/06/2016) — Dorothy Loftice was killed in a two-vehicle accident that also left her husband and children injured on Friday.
Police identified 35-year-old Dorothy Loftice as the victim of a fatal car accident that occurred at the intersection of State Highway 5 and Blythe Road in Howe, Texas.
Authorities stated that the Loftice’s family SUV was broadsided by a Grayson Collin Electric Co-op truck.
“Either failed to yield the stop sign or it (SUV) continued across and never saw the truck coming,” said Sgt. Michael Hill with Howe Police.
Loftice lost her in life in the wreckage. Her husband and three children, who were in the SUV when the collision happened, all sustained injures. Her children were transported to Dallas area hospitals—two of them via helicopter. Her husband suffered minor injuries.
One of the injured children had surgery performed on her leg on Monday. According to a statement on the Loftice family’s Facebook page, she is “Healing beautifully.”
“[Dorothy is] a great lady, a great mom and I know she had a great impact on the community and so many other people,” said Van Alstyne Junior Michael Hensley.
The two occupants of the truck were not injured. This accident remains under investigation.
