NACOGDOCHES, TX (05/30/2016) — SFA students Chace Scruggs, Rajeen Williams, and Geena Zarick died, and Trent Haynes was injured, after a Monday morning car accident.
According to police, a single-vehicle accident that occurred in the 2400 block of East Starr Avenue near Glen Hollow Street in Nacogdoches, Texas claimed the lives of Chace Scruggs, Rajeen “Ray” Williams, and Geena Zarick.
Authorities reported that at around 1:24 a.m., Scruggs was traveling eastbound in a 2007 Dodge Charger when he left the roadway and struck several trees. After the initial collision, the vehicle caught fire.
Scruggs, Williams, and Zarick—who were students at Stephen F. Austin State University—were pronounced dead at the scene.
A fourth occupant of the Charger, Trent Haynes, was transported to a nearby area hospital with serious injuries.
This accident remains under investigation.
