COPEVILLE, TX (06/05/2016) — A wrong way collision claimed the lives of Robert Crider and Anastacio Rosas, and seriously injured one other person.
UPDATE 06/08/2016: According to the investigation, the stretch of the highway where the accident took place was recently resurfaced, but wet weather kept Texas Department of Transportation crews from painting the center dividing lines until Monday, a day after the accident.
According to authorities, 57-year-old Robert Crider was killed following a wrong way accident that occurred along Highway 78 in Copeville, Texas.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), reported that at around 9:10 p.m., 28-year-old Anastacio Rosas was traveling southbound when he crossed into the northbound lanes and struck a Cadillac Eldorado, driven by Crider, head-on.
Crider lost his life in the wreckage. A second occupant of the Cadillac—who has not yet been identified—was flown to Medical Center of Plano in serious condition.
DPS Sgt. Lonny Haschel stated that Rosas was also airlifted to Medical Center of Plano, where he later died.
An investigation is ongoing.
