Such is the response of Trophy Club resident Don Pinson to the lack of traffic control at Medlin Middle School. Pinson has noticed many taking dangerous risks crossing a busy street to reach the school. There is no available crosswalk and no signage alerting drivers to the school zone. Even though he doesn’t have any children enrolled at Medlin, Pinson has taken it upon himself to help ensure students make it across the road safely.
Personal injury attorney Jeff Rasansky commends Pinson’s commitment to taking responsibility for his neighborhood’s well being. He has witnessed time and again a “pass the buck” attitude among people who stand by and wait for “someone else to take care of it.” The problem with that outlook is that “someone else” usually is thinking the same thing. As the buck is passed around the circle of passerby’s, the situation grows more and more dire – until an injury or death prompts the government to take action.
This is MY neighborhood.
Pinson’s stepping in and taking action is evidence that he has taken ownership of his neighborhood. He has “skin in the game,” so to speak. He sees it as his responsibility (not just the government’s) to take care of those around him.
We need more of that. Step up and speak out.
