TORNILLO, TX (07/10/2016) — Michael Darren lost his life on Sunday night after his vehicle was struck from behind by an 18-wheeler.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has identified 53-year-old Michael Darren as the victim of a fatal 18-wheeler accident that happened on Interstate 10 (near mile marker 61) in Tornillo, Texas.
DPS reported that at around 9:45 p.m., Darren was traveling eastbound in a 1989 Ford pickup truck when the driver of a semi-trailer—driven by 51-year-old Roberto Martinez—rear-ended his vehicle for unknown reasons.
The impact caused Darren to lose control of his truck, which lead to a crash. He died at the scene. Martinez was treated and released at the scene.
Authorities have not stated whether charges will be filed, but an investigation is ongoing.
