AMARILLO, TX (08/26/2016) — An early morning accident killed Raybar Mahmood and Nazanin Hameed on Friday.
The Amarillo Police Department (APD) identified 28-year-old Raybar Mahmood and 60-year-old Nazanin Hameed as the victims of a fatal head-on collision that happened at the intersection of Interstate 40 and Highway 287 in Amarillo, Texas.
The APD reported that at around 1:30 a.m., 32-year-old Joshua David Gardiner was traveling eastbound in a 1997 Chevrolet 1500 when he lost control of his vehicle and veered into westbound traffic. He crashed head-on with a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Mahmood.
Raybar Mahmood and his passenger, Nazanin Hameed, both died at the scene. Joshua Gardiner was ejected from his pickup truck and was also pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
The APD cited excessive speed as a factor in this accident.
